Palmer Trinity School Announces Three Associate Head of School Promotions

Palmetto Bay, FL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/11/2015 -- Palmer Trinity School is pleased to announce the promotions of Dr. Manjula Salomon to Associate Head of School for Academic Affairs; Danny Reynolds to Associate Head of School for External Relations; and Suzanne Gottlieb Calleja to Associate Head of School for Communications and Strategic Partnerships.

Prior to her new appointment as Associate Head of School for Academic Affairs, Dr. Salomon was Palmer Trinity's Global Scholar in Residence. She will now work closely with the Middle and Upper School Heads, Academic Dean, and Dean of Students. Before joining Palmer Trinity, she was Assistant Head of School, Director of Global Initiatives for The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut.

From 1985 to 2007, Dr. Salomon worked at Jakarta International School in Indonesia where she mentored International Baccalaureate (IB) teachers for 15 years. In addition, she was Head of Service and IB Research Projects Coordinator, and also taught Theory of Knowledge, history, and cultural anthropology. Her work also includes curriculum development for the University of Massachusetts' Center for International Education; Teheran International School, Iran; United Nations International School in New York; and University of Madras, India. Because of the depth of her knowledge and experience, Salomon has sat on IB curriculum and assessment boards for over 20 years.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Stella Maris College, University of Madras, India. Salomon was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to the United States where she taught Southeast Asian history to U.S. armed forces. She earned a second master's from the School for International Training, World Learning in Vermont, and a doctor of education degree from the Center for International Education at the University of Massachusetts.

Danny Reynolds will serve as Associate Head of School for External Relations. He has been at Palmer Trinity for 23 years, and is currently head of the departments of Admission, College Counseling, and Study Away.

Reynolds' work through the years has resulted in a marked increase in enrollment, as well as an elevation in the quality of students now being accepted to the school. In conjunction with college counseling, which is under his administration, Palmer Trinity has more students going out of state, out of country, and to more selective colleges than it had in the previous decade. Along with connections to hundreds of U.S. colleges, Reynolds has built strong relationships with universities in Scotland, England, and Ireland for Palmer Trinity students.

He has also been a pioneer among our region's schools to develop study away opportunities. Palmer Trinity instituted its first reciprocal study away program to Sydney, Australia in 2004. This has led to eight ongoing joint semester academic study away programs as well as a dozen enrichment, language immersion, community service, and service learning programs, making Palmer Trinity a global leader among its peers. Palmer Trinity's newest program is a service learning opportunity with the Lakota Indian Nation of South Dakota.

Reynolds is a founding board member of the Global Education Benchmark Group with membership of over 200 independent schools worldwide. He did both his undergraduate and postgraduate work at the University of Mississippi with additional coursework at Newcastle University in England.

Suzanne Gottlieb Calleja has been at Palmer Trinity for nine years and will serve as Associate Head of School for Communications and Strategic Partnerships, working closely with the Associate Head of School for External Relations and the Director of Development. Calleja will continue to oversee marketing, communications and social media, public and community relations, and will now supervise Palmer Trinity's growing focus on strategic partnerships.

In addition to her global independent school experience, Calleja has an extensive business background. She was the executive vice president of an independent animation company where she worked with CEO and film director, Christopher Cain, and sought private funding for the construction of a 52,000 square foot, state-of-the-art animation studio. This included $10 million in-kind and financial investment by Hewlett-Packard. In addition to fundraising, her studio background includes marketing and public relations development, and management of an extensive international staff. She also produced documentaries for August Moon Entertainment and Blue Collar Productions.

Previous to her studio work, Calleja worked in New York City for ABC Television, CBS News, and as a producer for Cronkite Ward & Company in which she developed, researched, and co-wrote Emmy-nominated stories for legendary CBS anchor, Walter Cronkite.

She is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, MA. As an undergraduate, she studied in Paris at the Sorbonne and at the American University of Paris. Calleja also taught English in the Republic of Guinea, formerly French Guinea, in West Africa. She is a Commissioner on the Council of the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Commission, on the Board of the Palmetto Bay Business Association, Temple Beth Am's Religious School, and on the Steering Committee of the 100 Ladies of Deering at Deering Estate at Cutler.
